Re Entry - A short film by Adam Bove & Brandon Schrichten

Client: Independent Short Film by Adam Bove
Project Type: Short Film
Industry: Film festivals, private screenings, online showcase

Re Entry was a passion project that challenged me to bring together my three core disciplines: editing, sound design, and color. Working with director Adam Bove, we set out to create a grounded, emotional sci-fi short that balanced personal stakes with cinematic scale. This project was an exercise in restraint, nuance, and technical precision — with every cut, audio cue, and color grade working to reinforce the emotional core of the story.

An astronaut makes a promise to his pregnant wife: to return home safely in time for the birth of their first child. But when technical issues arise during re-entry, that promise is tested against the unforgiving laws of space.

This story demanded a deeply layered and immersive soundscape — from the stark stillness of space to the escalating tension of re-entry. The sound design involved dozens of audio layers, carefully sculpted to carry the emotional weight of the narrative.

Behind the Sound: Building Emotional Immersion

The visual palette of Re Entry was carefully shaped to convey emotional contrast — the cool isolation of space versus the warm tones of Earth-bound intimacy. See how the final look was crafted through targeted color grading.
