Danner Boots – Portrait Series

Roles: Video Editor | Colorist | Sound Designer
Client: Danner Boots
Project Type: 3-Part Brand Portrait Series
Industry: Outdoor / Lifestyle / Documentary

I partnered with Danner Boots to create a three-part branded video series profiling people who embody the brand’s spirit of resilience, independence, and adventure. From a cave-diving photographer to a resourceful homesteading family, and a trail-savvy outdoor advocate, each video highlights a unique story rooted in the outdoors. I was responsible for video editing, color grading, and immersive sound design, crafting cinematic short films that are both grounded and aspirational.

This film follows Josh Hydeman, a photographer who documents the underground world of caves. The edit needed to reflect the quiet intensity and reverence of this environment. I used intentional pacing, subtle sound design, and a moody, cool-toned color grade to bring viewers into Josh’s perspective.

Video 1: Josh Hydeman – Photographer & Explorer

Master Video

The soundscape features subtle dripping water, underground echoes, gear movement, and environmental textures that build immersion in a subterranean world.

Sound Design Breakdown

This story highlights Erin Eaton, whose mission is to promote mindful movement through wild spaces. The edit emphasized gentle transitions and intentional rhythm. Naturalistic sound design and warm, earthy color gradingreinforced her connection with the land.

Video 2: Erin Eaton – Advocate & Educator

Master Video

Footsteps on dry leaves, birdsong, and ambient wind were used to reflect Erin’s presence in untouched landscapes—building texture without intruding on the viewer’s sense of stillness.

Sound Design Breakdown

This portrait tells the story of the Gunnier family, who live and work off the land. From morning chores to family dinners, I edited a day-in-the-life narrative driven by moment-to-moment detail, supported by tactile sound design and a clean, neutral color grade that brings clarity to their environment.

Video 3: The Gunnier Family – Homesteaders & Builders

Master Video

The sound design captures the roar of river water funneling through narrow stone valleys, the swish of nets cutting through current, and the satisfying slap of fresh fish being hauled into nets. Every sonic detail was layered to reflect the family’s deep connection to natural resources and the rhythm of river life.

Sound Design Breakdown

Natural tones and clean daylight grades enhanced authenticity while keeping visual focus on environment and emotion.
